Akume gave this advice while playing host to the people of Ushongo
Local Government Area (LGA) of the state led by its Chairman, Saint
Abraham, who paid him a condolence visit over the death of his elder
brother Idyer Akume Dajo at his residence in Makurdi on Sunday.
Idyer Akume Dajo was the paramount ruler of Tarka LGA of the state until his death.
Akume, who spoke in Tiv, advised Suswam to pray for forgiveness and
God would grant him the desired rest wherever he is at the moment,
saying that if Suswam is sincere in his prayers to God; God will hear
and forgive him.
He explained that but for the love of the people of the state the
poverty situation during Suswam’s tenure may have forced him to stay out
of Benue and from the people. He however pledged never to abandon the
people of Benue for whatever reason.
Akume stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a party with
a conscience. He appealed to the Ushongo caretaker chairman to make a
difference within the six months he has been given to serve.
In his response, the Ushongo chairman noted that they were at Senator
Akume’s residence to commiserate with him over the death of his elder
brother.
The chairman who had on his team all the council members as well as
APC ward chairmen in the LGA also lauded the sterling qualities of the
late J. S Tarka who is an uncle of Senator Akume.
Abraham said the aim of the visit was basically to encourage Akume over the death of his brother and also prayed God grants him the fortitude to bear the loss.
